The Huffington Post, which has expanded its international presence in recent months, announced Thursday the creation of a new editorial position overseeing its global news operation.
Howard Fineman, who was previously an editorial director at The Huffington Post, will become Global Editorial Director, in charge of supervising the company’s U.S. news coverage and international editions, according to a statement from Arianna Huffington, editor-in-chief and president of The Huffington Post:
The Huffington Post has named Howard Fineman Global Editorial Director, effective immediately. We now have 13 international editions, with more rolling out this year, and Howard will extend his reach from the U.S. to our growing global audience. He will continue to keep tabs on U.S. news coverage, especially politics, as he works to integrate and grow all of our news coverage around the world.
Fineman’s appointment comes as The Huffington Post is growing its international footprint. Last year, HuffPost announced the creation of international editions for several countries, including Greece, India and Morocco.
