The Poynter Institute and the Online News Association announced Wednesday the second Leadership Academy for Women in Digital Media. The academy is planned to start May 2 of next year, and 28 women will be chosen for the tuition-free program. This year’s academy will focus on emerging leaders.
From the press release:
Poynter and ONA will build upon the dynamic 2015 program, whose faculty included more than a dozen standout leaders in technology and media. Sessions will be structured to encourage open, candid discussion and mentoring, and participants will walk away with not only strong leadership skills, but a built-in support system.
“In a short space of time, the women at the ONA-Poynter Leadership Academy for Women in Digital Media became my most trusted advisers, greatest champions and dearest friends,” said Kari Cobham, social media analyst for Cox TV stations and a member of the first leadership class. “The program and having this cohort transformed my career and my life.”
Nearly 500 women applied to the first academy. Here’s a video produced by Poynter’s Jordan Kranse from the week.
The application period for the Leadership Academy for Women in Digital Media should begin in mid-January.
