A few months after its rebranding, Travel + Leisure has hired a new overseer for much of its news report.

Sara Clemence, previously the travel editor for The Wall Street Journal, will start at Travel + Leisure next week as news director. There, she will supervise the magazine’s Upgrade section and formulate stories for the magazine and the website, per a memo from Travel + Leisure Editor Nathan Lump.

She’ll assign and edit shorter- and longer-form stories, and, like our entire editorial team, will be a regular contributor of original content to TravelandLeisure.com. And I expect her to play a pivotal role in many of our new brand-building initiatives.

Before joining The Wall Street Journal, Clemence did stints at Forbes, Portfolio.com, The New York Post and founded recessionwire.com, according to the memo.

In April, Travel + Leisure debuted a redesigned print magazine and a website with an emphasis on higher-metabolism journalism and a mobile-friendly aesthetic. Talking to Capital New York, Lump said that paid contributors would furnish content for the site.

In August, Lump was named successor for longtime editor Nancy Novogrod, who led the magazine for more than two decades.
