If you’re a die-hard journalism student, you know your career isn’t made in the classroom. It’s made in the newsroom.

Scoring an internship over the summer — or any other time, really — is often the difference between finding a job after graduation and moving back in with your parents.

So, what are you waiting for? It’s internship application season, the three-month window from October to December when newsrooms across America force harried editors to read clips from ambitious college students.

Write up a cover letter, polish your resumé and start applying to the internships listed below that pique your interest. Application deadlines are still not listed for many outlets, so we’ll keep updating this post.

If you have questions about this list or know of other internships, send our managing editor an email at bmullin@poynter.org. Didn’t find the internship you were looking for? Check last year’s list.
