The National Advisory Board provides an important connection between the Poynter Institute and the profession it serves. Members of the board help guide the work of the Institute by reviewing and giving reaction to its programs and plans, and through analysis of important developments and issues in journalism and its various professional branches. The principal forum for such consultation is the annual meeting, when the board reports to the Poynter Institute's Board of Trustees. Individual members are invited and encouraged to participate in Poynter's activities and react to its efforts at other times.
