As Charlie Reed took note of in his early Stripes stories, the Rendon Group is no ordinary PR firm.
Various defense agencies have used our tax money to hire Rendon Group for “perception management” that has resulted in propagandizing Americans. It’s public knowledge that they advised the pre-war Iraqi National Congress, the expatriates who were allegedly credible and practically beloved in pre-war Iraq.
In a Nov. 17, 2005, Rolling Stone article, noted intelligence author John Bamford described how the Rendon Group was working for the CIA and was tied to the spread of false information about the existence of WMD in Iraq before the war.
As Rendon has described himself, he’s an “information warrior.” And there’s a convincing case to be made that journalists ranging from war correspondents to editorial writers are his targets. In my opinion, the Rendon Group played a key role in winning the war for the war in Iraq – and Americans paid for it.
To save time for the Rendon Group, I’ll go ahead and classify myself: “Positive” for patriotic concern about misused tax money; sentiments also lean “positive” toward upholding federal laws that ban propaganda against citizens.
