The only place to find debate
Posted by Jim Trebilcock 11/3/2009 7:34:35 AM

I'm curious where Ms. Turner gets the data to support her contention that the Fox audience is "ideologically rigid." Had she fully read the nicely done Politico article, she would have discovered that Pew Research in 2008 found that 39 percent of Fox's audience are Democrats.
It's this ability to simply denigrate and dismiss groups with which they differ that negatively characterizes many journalists today. How does Ms. Turner explain Fox's audience size - larger than CNN and MSNBC combined - in rational, i.e., old-school journalism, terms?

remarks out of context. She had been a fixture on FNC for some time until Sean Hannity was, in her words, "condescending" to her, at which time she bolted. As for CNBC, she probably wouldn't be heard there unless she was louder than Jim Cramer or made more sense than Maria "Money Honey" Bartiromo(who, remember, badgered a Washington legislator about Medicare, braying, "If it's so good, why aren't you on it?" Came his reply, "Because I'm too young[to qualify]...").

Time to rethink

If Ms. Chadderdon considered how many in the ideologically rigid Fox audience might be even vaguely open to her statements I'm pretty sure she'd find more productive uses for her time. Playing the role of token rational person only serves to encourage the Fox liars (pardon the redundancy) and give the channel an unwarranted semblance of actual journalism.

No surprise, really.

Isn't defending the indefensible, no matter what the forum, supposed to be difficult?
