Somebody should have asked her to name those right-leaning commentators, because I listen to Weekend Edition most weeks, and I cannot think of any, other than that lame left-right with Brooks.
Anyhow, Cokie Roberts is a whole generation younger and she's twice as boring as Schorr. If NPR is going to replace elderly bores, start with her.

While I do read about NPR bias and read that it is so evident, those who say that never give examples. The Fairness Doctrine, wouldn't that eliminate any problem with bias. Oh wait, we're against that. Never mind.

Why is anyone listening to a 93-year-old? Shouldn't some 19-year-old be given the opportunity to share all the wisdom they have accumulated, filtered through perhaps a half-decade of adult-level comprehension, dispensed in a convenient Twitter format, so no one's lips will get tired from reading it?
What could Schorr possibly bring any insight to? WWII? Fascism? Communism? The Cold War? The McCarthy Era? The Sixties? Nuremberg? The Eichmann Trial? Charles Manson? The Moon Landings? Watergate? Bhopal? Malcolm X? British Politician Sex?
I just wish the media would understand that only really, really young people are qualified to do anything. Ever. Period.
Dan is wonderful.

Yea, he has his bad days, but more often then not he gives us a sense of perspective. He continues to follow the news and, as his recent limited foray onto Twitter shows his still willing to learn new things.

Sorry, George. He's brilliant. Still. But of course, you're welcome to continue tuning him out if you wish. Your loss.

Sorry I don't see the balance- does NPR have a resident conservative commentator or not?
But probably more importantly (let's agree NPR's bias is a given- I'm not sure how anyone can dispute that) Daniel Schorr comment's aren't exactly enlightening, noteworthy, thought provoking or compelling. They're just the opposite- plain, dull, boring rants.
With all due respect he's a tired old man long set in his ways and it shows. You know what's coming before he says it and I can hear that droll delivery in my head right now.
I switch the station when he comes on and suspect a lot of others do the same.
