Tom Traubert is Right
Posted by walter ross 11/22/2009 3:23:43 AM

Palin is as relevant to rational political discourse as Carrie Prejean is to rational scientific discourse. Their 15 minutes should've been up a long time ago. If the media didn't continually give them artificial respiration they would cease to exist.

Tom Traubert is a fake name
Posted by Bradley Fikes 11/20/2009 11:08:09 AM

So why does Poynter allow this anonymous person to post here?

Poynter's policy says, "From time to time, we will allow anonymous comments just as we sometimes allow anonymous sources."

So Poynter people, what standards do you use when allowing anonymous comments? For that matter, did "Tom Traubert" give Poynter his/her real name? Poynter says that's required.

Poynter recently posted an article about whether to allow anonymous comments. Often, anonymous comments tend to be trollish and vindictive. And so it is with "Tom Traubert", who never engages in any substantive discussion here.

Let's see Poynter tackle this example of abusive anonymity in its own backyard.

Press as Paparazzi Pack
Posted by Tom Traubert 11/20/2009 9:36:32 AM

The national press has certainly been able to gin up the ratings on this entirely irrelevant woman and her book, haven't they? A partial-term governor of a sparsely populated state who cannot articulate a coherent thought, but is "good-looking," is enough to send the beltway into screaming, jostling waves of adolescent-girl conniptions. May their credibility and esteem fall further in the eyes of the rational public. Pure silliness.
