Sara Kiesler

Sara Kiesler began her infatuation with journalism writing track and field articles in 2001 for her college newspaer, The DePauw, at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. But it wasn't until her seventh semester and her second internship at the Evansville Courier and Press that she discovered her love for news. Before that, she didn't think anyone in news could tell a story. She learned that good reporting is all it takes. After securing two scholarships from her alma mater for her work in journalism, she was one of the lucky 16 chosen for the Poynter Institute's summer writing program for college graduates in 2005. Journalism Disney World taught her more in six weeks about her strengths, weaknesses, and passions than she could have ever dreamed. It also helped her land a sweet gig at the Daytona Beach News-Journal, where she now covers local government.
