Google News Norway Removes Images

Google News Norway looks pretty bleak since it pulled copyrighted photos. (Click to enlarge)
Since Google News launched its Norwegian site on Nov. 16 there has been strong pressure to stop Google from republishing using copyrighted images there.

The pressure coming from the Norwegian Media Businesses' Association (MBL) hasbeen especially strong, as Tidbits mentioned earlier. Now it seems that Google has succumbed.

At the moment, no pictures from MBL member sites appear on Google News Norway. The only remaining images are from sites that don't belong to MB members.

Since most Norwegian news sites do belong to MBL members, the Norwegian Google News front page looks a bit bleak today.

The only pictures there are from non-MBL-member news sites. Although this might convey some slight online advantage to those news sites, in my opinion Google News Norway is a severely less interesting and comprehensive site because of this move.
