In Germany, an Almost 50% Increase ...
Posted by Norbert Specker at 11:47 AM on Feb. 17, 2003
That is what Nielsen/NetRatings says about the German online advertising market compared to January 2002. The 20.3 million Euro figure represents a gain of 49.8%. Already for the fourth quarter, an increase of 46.8% was reported (however, the compared quarter was the one after September 11). More interesting: The overall advertising market in January had a 0.6% drop, so online advertising spending is running massively against the trend. Even though online only covers 1.5% of overall advertising spending in Germany, it is moving unerringly ahead and it is getting close to outdoor advertising (29.3 million Euro). Also, the special-interest magazine market (32.8 million Euro) is coming into sight for online. Time to join the trek again, as this time it is fueled by real advertising Euros.
