Asleep at the PR Wheel?
Posted by Steve Outing at 11:54 AM on Oct. 13, 2004
Is the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) stuck in the past? It seems so, opines B.L. Ochman, a PR practitioner and blogger, who points out that the group has scheduled no sessions on blogging at its upcoming annual convention in New York City, October 23-26. The conference "has not one workshop planned about blogging, even though they call it the most important international communications event of the year. This is a fossilized point of view," she says.

"Unless you've been under a rock, you'd know that blogging has certainly become a viable part of the marketing mix and one PR people can no longer afford to ignore. The industry's trade organization has an obligation to keep up with developments in the field, not just to cover tired PR tactics," Ochman says.
