Steve Outing
A group weblog about the intersection of news & technology

A Multimedia Hurricane Blog
Posted by Steve Outing at 6:15 PM on Jul. 19, 2005
Fast-moving news events are appropriate for temporary group blogs, as we've seen over the years from various news organizations. MySanAntonio.com is publishing a breaking-news blog today covering Hurricane Emily, which at this writing is about to hit the south Texas/north Mexico coast.

The Emily blog is innovative in a couple ways. First, it's populated by reporters and photographers from both the San Antonio Express-News and from KENS 5 TV, the local CBS affiliate station. The paper is owned by the Hearst Newspaper Group; Belo Corp. owns KENS. Hearst and Belo jointly own MySanAntonio.com.

This one is very much a multimedia breaking-news blog, including text accounts, photos, and video as filed from the reporting teams, which are filing from as far away as the Yucatan Peninsula and on both sides of the Texas/Mexico border along the Gulf Coast, according to MySanAntonio.com content director Charlotte-Anne Lucas.
