British Police Solicit Cellphone Photos of Bomb Attacks
Posted by Paul Grabowicz at 7:18 PM on Jul. 21, 2005
News media like the BBC aren't the only ones who see value in getting "citizen journalists" to send in their eye-witness photos and video of the London bombing attacks.

British police have set up a website where they appeal to the public to send in "any photographs, video footage, or mobile phone images" taken at the scenes of the July 7 and July 21 attacks. The site includes an online form for uploading images and a number for sending in MMS images.

Other police agencies likely will launch similar initiatives in the future -- see, for example, Steve Outing's blog item on a Malaysian government website where the public can post photos to catch traffic offenders.
