AJC Dropping Paid-Content Sports Service

When the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Packer Insider reported good early results selling a premium-content service to football fans, there were high hopes in the newspaper industry that others might follow. But few teams have the fanatical following of the Green Bay Packers.

Now the Atlanta Journal and Constitution is ending its experiment with premium sports content, terminating ajcsportsPlus.com. In an e-mail sent to subscribers today, ajc.com editorial director Hyde Post says the newspaper is mailing pro-rated refund checks to subscribers and putting all of its efforts into enhancing its free sports content.
