Google Searches Blogs (at Last)
Posted by Steve Outing at 12:42 PM on Sep. 14, 2005
Well, Google sure doesn't seem to be slowing down. Today comes news that Google has added a blog search service, a nice complement to Google News. Google has been expected for some time to be adding blog search (after all, it bought Blogger a couple years ago); it's finally here.

There are plenty of other blog-search services out there, of course; Technorati is probably the most widely known. Among the major Web search engines, though, blog search is still coming. (Search Engine Watch's Chris Sherman has a good overview of Google's new offering and the larger industry picture.)

Blog search is a great research tool for journalists to survey coverage of a topic, of course. Now Google offers a more complete research solution with Google News and Google Blog Search. The two don't overlap much -- Google News tracks very few blogs -- so use them both to get a good feel for what's been published in the traditional press and on blogs on a topic you may be covering.
