named San Jose Mercury News executive editor last May, tells her staff she leaves with "jumbled emotions" but plans to remain in the Silicon Valley. (The Merc doesn't say why she's departing.) "I look forward to watching as you continue to confront the challenges we've been tackling," she writes.
David J. Butler, currently the top news executive for Mercury News parent MediaNews, was named editor of the paper. ||
