Michael Calderone notes there's been a decline in the number of black White House reporters in recent years, with just four or five regularly in the briefing room. "That dynamic is poised to reverse," he writes. WP's Michael Fletcher says having a black reporter cover a black politician can help to better understand the "racial context" of some issues, and that news orgs assembling WH teams "would probably be more inclined to have a black reporter on the beat" as such.
