The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) has sued Gannett and the Wisconsin Newspaper Association for allegedly infringing on its exclusive media ownership rights. The WIAA has asked a judge to rule that it has the right to "control the transmission, Internet stream, photo, image, film, videotape, audiotape, writing, drawing or other depiction or description" of high school games. Appleton Post-Crescent editor Dan Flannery says: "We are seeking to protect our rights to cover the news in whatever form or with whatever technology we have at our disposal."
