Editor & Publisher
Some who read the former New York Times executive editor's letter might think so, says Greg Mitchell. It's fascinating reading, says E&P's editor, "and one can take it pretty much at face value, recognizing that Howell [Raines] just wants to provide a little context and defend himself, particularly from one comment in the editors' note which accused someone of rushing scoops into the paper. Other readers of the Raines letter, on the other hand, might feel he mainly wants to settle scores with some of his in-house critics."
