The University of Missouri's Missourian is experimenting with a weekly electronic media version, or EmPrint. The key to the project, says EmPrint designer Roger Fidler, is that the format lends itself to a "serendipitous experience to news and advertising in a comfortable reading environment." Orange County Register publisher Chris Anderson says: "It is a nifty idea. It combines the best of the Web with the habit and comfort (and potential portability) of a print product. It took me about 30 seconds or so to download it, and a minute more to display it -- less than the time it takes to go get the paper from my driveway."
