New York Times
An internal New York Times committee says: "We strongly believe it is no longer sufficient to argue reflexively that our work speaks for itself. In today's media environment, such a minimal response damages our credibility." The panel says the Times should develop a strategy for evaluating public attacks on the paper and determining whether and how to respond to them. The committee also said there was "an immense amount that we can do to improve our journalism." Suggestions: Limit anonymous sources, reduce factual errors and make a clearer distinction between news and opinion.
