Workshop presenters in 2010 include Tom French, Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter from the St. Petersburg Times. He did a session last year called "Chronicling the Untold Stories of You" that earned rave reviews.
Other 2010 speakers include Neil Brown, executive editor of the St. Petersburg Times, and John Cutsinger, a frequent speaker on writing and design at scholastic journalism conventions. Cutsinger will do a session for advisers on coaching writers. Jill Geisler, head of Poynter's Leadership faculty, will do a session for student editors on using influence, not authority to get the job done.

HSWW Registration Flier
Enrollment is limited to the first 200 who register and pay their workshop fee.
Workshop presenters in 2009 included members of the Poynter Institute as well as professionals from Tampa Bay area news organizations, including the St. Petersburg Times, Tampa Tribune and WTSP Channel 10. (See the inset box for examples of speakers lined up for March 13.)
Workshop topics range from writing and reporting to ethics and media careers. Between workshops and during lunch, students may browse award-winning student newspapers from across the country and chat with student journalists from across the state. Participants do not need to be involved in journalism at their schools. But those who work on school publications are urged to bring copies to share.
Teachers who plan to bring more than 10 students should contact Wendy Wallace, program director, to ensure that space is available.
For more information about the workshop, e-mail Wendy Wallace. The workshop will take place at the Institute, 801 Third St. S., St. Petersburg.
