Election Night is the climax of months of rigorous news coverage. By the day after the election, with most of the races called, some of the biggest election stories have reached a stopping point. And as the big stories fade, we have a chance to look back at some coverage of the quieter moments.
These aren't stories about a race. Many times they aren't even stories about an issue. But they are election stories worth telling.
Here are a few we found as we looked back. We'll watch for post-election stories to add to this list. And we hope you'll let us know if you see anything you think we can all learn from.
- Calling It Like They See It: First-Person Accounts: The Argus Leader in Sioux Falls, S.D., had a nice piece from one of its graphic artists who was voting for the first time. He's 25 and explains why he's gone this far without casting a ballot. It's always refreshing for me to read a personal story, especially one coming from someone other than a reporter: You can see what readers had to say about the column on the left rail, although the tiny font makes it a bit difficult to read. -- Leann Frola
