Multimedia journalists were ready for Barry Bonds' record-breaking home run. Using a variety of media including Flash, user participation and databases, news organizations found unique ways to provide additional context to stories with interactivity.

USA Today
In the "Blasting into history" special section, you can look at the record-setting swing frame-by-frame; listen to notable radio broadcasters talk about calling the big moments in baseball; and use the built-in sound effects to submit your own call of Bonds' 756th home run. (You may need to download the latest version of Flash to see these graphics)

In part of this feature, you can hear memorable radio calls and what it means to radio broadcasters to be a part of baseball history.


The interactive graphic "Bonds away" tracked Bonds progress toward the record, projections of when he would break the home run record (at the pace he was at as of June 1, he was to hit his 756th home run August 12), and tidbits about Hank Aaron.
