Comparing War Deaths
As American deaths in Iraq hit 4,000, it might be useful to recall how many others have died while serving in this country's wars.
Iraq's death count approaches that of the American Revolution,
according to Infoplease, and is nearly twice the number who died in the War of 1812.
But it is nowhere close to the number who died in WWI, WWII, Korea or Vietnam.
Infoplease
has a detailed table that lists total service members, deaths and nonfatal woundings in each major war.
