Following Congress' grilling of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials on Thursday, you may want to probe deeper. The Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) has several databases available to get you started, including:

• FAA Service Difficulty Reports
• FAA Accidents and Incident Reports
• The NASA Air Safety Reporting System, which was controversial when it was released because of how the data was collected. There are also registries of aircraft and pilots.
