How a Child's Health Depends on Geography
The Every Child Matters education fund released data this week that shows how children in different parts of the country live. The report sorts the data into these areas:
1. Infant Mortality Rates
2. Child Deaths
3. Teen Deaths
4. Teen Births
5. Prenatal Care
6. Child Poverty
7. Uninsured Children
8. Juvenile Incarceration
9. Child Abuse Fatalities
10. Child Welfare Spending
11. Overall Vulnerability Rank
12. Relationship of the Tax Burden to Overall Child Vulnerability

You will see that the group says there is a huge gap between the way children in some states live compared with others. The study says that children in the 50th ranking state are twice as likely to die in their first year compared with those in the number one ranked state. They are also far more likely to be uninsured, impoverished and incarcerated later in life.
If you generate stories from this report, other than the announcement story, would you drop a note into the reader feedback section of this column with a link so others can get ideas from you?
