The crisis in Catholic schools is a story you could do in almost any city.
Education Week says since 1990, more than 1,300 Catholic school have closed.
The Thomas B. Fordham Institute recently released a new study about the decline of Catholic schools in America.
The report found that "In a few
cities, such as Wichita, urban Catholic education is making a comeback.
However, in other cities like Milwaukee and Washington, D.C., despite
public voucher programs, enrollment continues to decline and/or schools
are being closed or converted into charters."
USA Today reports
that changing urban demographics and the cost of running a school have been chipping away enrollment for 40 years.
