Finally, Some Good News About Auto Sales

It is hardly news anymore when automakers report financial losses. But it IS news that Ford announced today it turned a $100 million dollar profit in the first quarter of this year.

The profit comes with some pain. The Detroit Free Press reminds us that Ford has shed more than 45,000 employees since 2005, including 4,200 workers who took early retirement or buyouts.

The Free Press says more buyouts are likely on a plant-by-plant basis.
