Today, the Online News Association announced that this year's Online Journalism Awards (which starts accepting entries on Monday, May 15) will include a new category: the Knight Award for Public Service.

This award will "honor the use of journalistic resources, digital techniques and public information that produces compelling coverage of a vital issue and engage a geographic community."
