Jailed Video Blogger Loses Appeal

Wolf
Josh Wolf / Meetup.com
Josh Wolf refuses to release to a grand jury video he shot at a July 2005 G8 summit protest.
Yesterday, Red Herring reported that freelance journalist Josh Wolf's appeal was rejected by a three-member federal court panel on Friday. Wolf was jailed for refusing to release video he shot of a violent protest last summer.

SPJ has been vigorously backing Wolf in this case -- even negotiating with his lawyer to cap his legal fees at $60,000, and giving him a $31,000 grant from SPJ's legal defense fund (the largest grant ever issued from that fund).

According to Red Herring: "Wolf will not be sent back immediately to federal prison. ...[He] plans to file an en banc appeal to the 9th Circuit decision."

More details at Josh Wolf's blog.
