Now's a Good Time to Read OhMyNews
|
OhMyNews
This South Korean citizen journalism venue offers a special "Dateline North Korea" page. |
Since the infamous Oct. 9 North Korean detonation (which
may or
may not have been scientifically confirmed as a nuclear test, depending on whose anonymous sources you choose to believe), South Korean citizen journalism venue
OhMyNews has become an especially intriguing place to follow this story.
You can find the English-language OhMyNews coverage via its Dateline North Korea page. There appears to be even more Korean-language coverage of this story -- and I hope OhMyNews is planning to translate at least some of that to English. (In the meantime, you might want to see if anyone on your staff or in your community can translate Korean for you.)
This, I think, is a classic example of how traditional and citizen journalism can complement each other to round out a major story. No news outlet is an island, after all.
