Web 2.0 South African Recruitment Site Launches

Employmint
South African recruitment site Employmint offers rewards for job referrals.
It's very trendy to attach the term "Web 2.0" to your site. That's why when I hear the label, I proceed with caution. Especially nowadays, where it appears we are in Web 2.0-frenzy mode.

I received this tip off from the site owner, which I duly blogged, about a "Web 2.0" South African recruitment site recently launched called Employmint. The owner claims the site is "packed full of all the Web 2.0 goodness you can think of including mashups with Microsoft Virtual Earth, user generated content, AJAX / Atlas interface and more..."

What sets this apart from traditional recruitment sites is that it works on a referral system. All jobs posted offer a cash reward to anyone who refers the winning candidate for a job. It's not a bad concept if you think about it, because we all know that one of the main ways people get jobs is via networks. Also, many top jobs aren't even advertised. People use networks because they know they can attract stronger candidates via trusted networks. The site claims it already has half a million rands worth of rewards (About US$80 000) for referrers on offer at the moment.

Will it work? I explore this further in my blog posting.
