Why choose? A Chilean radio station recently offered simultaneous live webcasts of a song festival and soccer match. |
It happened on Feb. 22: Chile's
Radio Cooperativa wanted to live-broadcast two events that were scheduled at the same time. These were: the
song festival at Viņa del Mar (a major beach city in central of Chile), with Tom Jones as the main attraction; and a soccer match --
Colo Colo (the most popular team in Chile) vs. River Plate from Argentina.

Rather than choose one over the other, Cooperativa opted to simultaneously live-Webcast full coverage of both events. They added a second online channel to the site to accomplish this. Meanwhile, on the radio signal, they broadcasted only the song festival.
Oscar Pasten, head of Cooperativa's Internet operations, explained that this decision has opened a big opportunity. It's pushing the station's corporate owners to explore more online possibilities.
