Jerusalem Post E-Paper Returns

The new e-paper from the Jerusalem Post looks like... the Jerusalem Post |
This is an update to a
recent post by
Steffen Fjaervik in which I was quoted as saying that the
Jerusalem Post had dropped its pay-to-read online e-paper.
Well, now it's back -- with a different vendor (Newspaper Direct). The previous version was based on Olive Software.
Online readers still must subscribe to read beyond page 1 of the e-paper. However, this time around the paper doesn't appear to be holding back any print content, as it did in the original version.

What little I was able to read before getting to the subscription screen was fairly easy on the eye. But I remain unconvinced of the need or market for such a product. When it's all online for free, why pay to read it -- especially when much of it will be outdated by events (especially in Israel, where the news comes at you "like a 90 mph fastball," to quote a former Jerusalem Post editor).
