HawaiiReporter.com Where does this site fit into the media landscape, and how might that affect First Amendment issues?

From the "this debate will probably never be settled" department:

Malia Zimmerman has served as a consultant to ABC's 20/20 on a story about a dam collapse in Hawaii. She also has written for the Web site HawaiiReporter.com, which began publishing in 2002.

Is she a journalist? Or a blogger? Is HawaiiReporter.com a blog or an independent news outlet? And does any of this make a difference as to whether she should be required to testify in court?
