BlogHer tops my list of best online-media conferences. What's on your list? |
Recently Poynter Online's
Ellyn Angelotti asked me which online media conference I thought were most worth attending this year. Specifically she's looking for "the most worthwhile as far as interactive, innovative journalism."
I recently attended one that has been my favorite for a few years now in that regard: BlogHer. No, it's not specifically a journalism conference -- but to be honest, I get more good ideas for what journalism can be doing by attending conference that are not specifically about journalism, but related to it in many ways.
Personally, I think BlogHer is indispensable for anyone who's serious about meeting the smartest and most diverse group of folks in online media -- people who actually get stuff done, not just theorize, pontificate, or engage in endless one-upsmanship. You can't beat that brainfood.
As for the rest, I'm putting my thinking cap on to give Ellyn a short list. So I'm throwing this out to the Tidbits community: If you had to pick just, say, three conference to attend per year, anywhere in the world, that would help you get the best connections, education, and energy for doing cool useful things with online media, what would they be? Please comment below, and give links and dates for these events.
I'll bet together we can give Ellyn one heck of a top-notch list.
