The Times Likes This Site So Much, It Bought the Company
Posted by Rich Gordon 12:10 PM
Martin Nisenholtz, senior vice president of digital operations for the New York Times Co., tells PaidContent.org that the Times has purchased Blogrunner, a website that's home to "The Annotated Times," a cool site that's been around a while but that I'm just catching up to.

The site makes it easy to find bloggers who are commenting about (and linking to) stories from that day's editions of the Times. You can subscribe to RSS feeds by topics covered in the newspaper.

The Times purchase is an example of how the mainstream media are beginning to embrace a strategy of connecting to Web conversations that orbit their content. Other examples: the purchase by three newspaper companies of Topix.net and the Washington Post's deal with Technorati that places blog links adjacent to stories on the Post website.
