How television can extend its reach
Online news sites around the world are picking up on the first of a three-part video segment about U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice that
NBC News4 morning co-anchor
Barbara Harrison reported as part of a diet and fitness series.
Rice, who follows a daily, highly-regimented workout program, even when she travels, allowed Harrison inside the gym for the report, which will continue through Friday and is available on the ever-improving network affiliate's Web site. The series is called "Talking Fitness With Condoleezza Rice."
The diet package, which deals with losing those pesky, last 10 pounds, includes Harrison's
blog,
menu plan and a feedback element for viewers to offer their own suggestions. It was all pretty typical fare for the a.m. demographic until it became newsworthy for the Rice segments. And because of the reach of the Web site, many more people around the world are learning something more about the U.S. Secretary of State than
her Web page will tell you.
