Management Mug Shots
OK, no heavy lifting today -- just some fun. Let's talk about the "trappings of power" -- namely, your coffee mug.

Steve Carell - NBC - The Office
NBC
Steve Carell, who plays Michael Scott, on NBC's The Office.
In the premiere episode of NBC's "The Office," Michael Scott (Steve Carell) welcomes us to his "kingdom." With confidence born of self-delusion and stone tone-deafness, he tells us how much his people love working for him: "They go, 'God, we've never worked in a place like this before. You're hilarious. And you get the best out of us.' " Then he hoists his coffee cup, "I think this pretty much sums it up."

World's Best Boss mug
The mug reads: "World's Best Boss."

Then Scott adds, unblinkingly: "I found it at Spencer Gifts."

What about your mug, boss? Where did it come from? What's written on it? What message does it flash in front of your face as you sit and sip at meetings? Here are some possibilities -- and an invitation for your input:

Hope I don't regret this: If you have a mug shot worth sharing, send a jpeg my way -- and the accompanying tale that goes with it. I may even award a valuable prize for the most interesting. (Hint: I invested in two of those "I'm Not Bossy, I Just Have Better Ideas" mugs at the dollar store.)
