Some other points made by New York Times managing editor
Jill Abramson in her lecture titled "The Future of the New York Times":
* New technologies don't always replace the old ones and "brand names that carry authority and quality" will continue to flourish.
* On the Times vs. bloggers: "We believe in a journalism of verification rather than assertion."
* "Google and Yahoo do have the cash to buy up a newsroom full of journalists. They are already moving into our space." But she doubts that large Internet companies will be the next generation of press barons.
