Charles Madigan on the money being spent to build the Newseum: "Instead of popping half a billion dollars into some swank real estate in Washington so we can be just like every other industry and trade group in the history of America, what if we put half a billion dollars into literacy programs? I know, we've all had newspapers in classroom programs forever and lots of other enticements aimed at increasing newspaper circulation. Obviously, those things did not work very well. But I'm talking about literacy. It may be the greatest contribution we can make."
