In a memo to Tribune employees, sent almost eight hours after the Chandlers filed their letter with the SEC, CEO Dennis FitzSimons flatly said, "Many of the assertions in the letter are inaccurate," reports Phil Rosenthal. One of Joseph Menn's sources says of the Chandlers: "They are trying to shift the balance of power their way. Whether they truly believe in a spinoff, I don't know."
