Marilyn W. Thompson, who has been editor of the Lexington Herald-Leader for the past two years, becomes Los Angeles Times national investigative editor on September 1. Before joining the Herald-Leader, Thompson spent 14 years at the Washington Post as a reporter, editor and ultimately assistant managing editor for investigations.
