Wendy McCaw wrote in a front page piece Tuesday that she had no plans to sell her paper, and that despite the turmoil affecting the newsroom, the News-Press had gained several hundred subscribers in July. A former staffer says of her circulation claim: "I have to say I find that statement suspect in the extreme."
