"Deluged" cover from the September 19, 2005 New Yorker won the best-cover contest sponsored by the American Society of Magazine Editors and the Magazine Publishers of America. The best celebrity cover award was shared by Harper’s Bazaar and Vibe. A New Yorker cover depicting Vice President Dick Cheney and President Bush as cowboys, alluding to "Brokeback Mountain," won in the category of best news cover.
