Bill Marimow received an enthusiastic welcome when he was introduced as the Philadelphia Inquirer's new editor on Wednesday. "We have to figure out how to thrive in an era of reduced resources," he told the staff. Marimow opposed newsroom job cuts when he was Baltimore Sun editor. But the Inquirer is in a different situation, he said, because its profit margin is lower and the new owners, who borrowed more than $300 million to buy the paper, need to reduce costs. ||
