Mike Allen, who joined Time in August 2005 from the Washington Post, will be chief political correspondent for The Politico, the website edited by
Jim VandeHei and
John Harris and published by Allbritton Communications. Allen says Time is "the world's most essential magazine" but that The Politico is the first time that "a political newspaper and website will have the same DNA." It was
announced earlier that
Roger Simon is leaving Bloomberg News to write for The Politico.
